This past weekend, April 30 - May 1, 2022, Ghost Town Charities Co-Founders Raul Utajara and Stephen Blea, in collaboration with the Colorado State Golden Gloves Hall of Fame proudly presented “The WBC 2nd Green Belt Challenge” and the “Colorado Golden Gloves Hall of Fame’s 1970’s Induction Ceremony,” at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, Longmont, Colorado.

This prestigious 2-day event began with a jammed packed 43 bout fight card in which former WBC welterweight champion Carlos Palomino and the International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame’s Executive Director (ret.) Eddie Montalvo, were invited as our Special Guests to the Honor the late WBC President Emeritus Don José Sulaimán Chagnón and the late President Emeritus of Cleto Reyes Don Alberto Reyes for their love, contributions and unconditional support to the sport of boxing, and in particular, the sport of women's boxing.

Ghost Town Charities had the honor of also recognizing, awarding and honoring some of Colorado’s Golden Glovers from the 1970’s.

Jerry "Red" Thompson, Robert Thompson, Eric Sedillo, Tim Marquez, Reyes “Mighty Mouse” Salas, Larry Bonds, and the late Billy Parks.

The tournament was a success and the participants, coaches, spectators and guests enjoyed themselves and had the opportunity to catch up with the Champ for some chat, photos and autographs.

All but one bout was a female bout. And what a fight it was!!! Aniyah Ramos (110lbs) of House of Pain Boxing vs Victoria Acevedo (110 lbs) of Young Kings Boxing had the crowd on their feet rooting for them with scream of “what a fight!” At the end they received a standing ovation. Aniyah defeated Victoria in a fight some called a battle.

(Lt to Rt. Aniyah Ramos, Eddie Montalvo and Victoria Acevedo)

Our next event is the 2022 Colorado Golden Gloves Hall of Fame & Championship Night from June 21-25, 2022, at Roller City, 6803 West Alameda Ave, Lakewood, CO 80226, where we will induct Amorena Baca, James Farrell, Scott Ardrey, Rita Madrid and Bruce Danford. Our Guest of Honor is the “Coal Miner’s” daughter herself the Legendary Christy Martin-Salters and she will be present for the festivities of June 24th and 25th. You won’t want to miss being there!

Ghost Town Charities wants to express its gratitude to all participants for their participation, our volunteers for doing an amazing job in ensuring our guests and participants were taken care of and, especially our sponsors for their generous sponsorship.
