(MAY 4) On April 30 to May 1, a fantastic amateur boxing event took place at the Boulder County Fairgrounds, with Ghost Town Charities in conjunction with the Colorado Golden Gloves Hall of Fame.   The event was a two day event, entitled, "The WBC 2nd Green Belt Challenge” and the “Colorado Golden Gloves Boxing Hall of Fame’s 1970’s Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony where the likes of we’re honored for their participation is the Colorado Golden Gloves during the 1970’s.

The amateur boxing event featured one female amateur bout, and 39 bouts with male boxing.

Amateur Female Bout!

Aniyah Ramos 14-15 Division defeated a game Victoria Acevedo  in an all out battle with the Crowd giving them a standing ovation!

Stephen Blea said, "this past event was first and foremost about the Legacy of Don Jose & Alberto Reyes, on how they wanted to give back to the next generation of kids, and we brought the Golden Gloves in as a Tribute as well, and finally these old School dinosaurs of Coaches finally recognized and realized that Women can Box!"

Stephen Blea told WBAN, to Sue and my fellow WBAN sisters and brothers.  Great news and finally before the big history breaking out fight between Serrano and Tayor, we finally had our Coaches recognize our First ever outstanding female boxer in one of our WBC Cares Green Belt Challenges!  They finally can see women can box."

"Female boxer Aniyah Ramos 14-15 Division defeated a game Victoria Acevedo of Young Kings Boxing Team in an all out battle with the Crowd giving them a standing ovation! Women have arrived at all levels and we need to expose them and honor then on behalf of all of the amazing pioneers and champions of female boxing!" added Blea.

The WBC said, "A major WBC amateur event in Colorado took place this weekend, thanks to the outstanding work of WBC Cares Ambassador Stephen Blea.   This was the second edition of the “Don Jose Sulaiman and Don Alberto Reyes” Tournament, in honor of their great legacy and everlasting contribution to world boxing.

More than 100 fighters participated in this tournament, in an excellent atmosphere of festivity and exceptional sportsmanship.

The WBC especially congratulates all those involved in the organization of this tournament, for their great work to continue developing amateur boxing."
