(JAN 15) Last night at the
Centro de Convenciones Vasco Núñez de Balboa (Hotel El Panama),
in
Panama City,
Gabriela Fundora, 112, won an eight-round unanimous decision
over Nataly Delgado, 111. The final judges scores was 80-71 on
all cards.
The fight almost did not take
place though when Fundora first tested POSITIVE for COVID at the
weigh-in!
In a press release that we received, it stated the following:
"According to a Female flyweight prospect Gabriela “Sweet Poison” Fundora’s
10-round fight tonight is back on after a more
accurate PCR test she was administered came up negative for
Covid today.
Coachella, California’s Fundora (4-0, 2 KOs) was set to face
Santiago de Veraguas, Panama’s Nataly Delgado (8-4-1, 3 KOs) in
a televised bout for the WBC Latino Flyweight Championship on
tonight’s (Friday, January 14, 2022) “Box & Roll” event at the
Vasco Núñez de Balboa Convention Center in the El Panama Hotel
in Panama City, Panama."
The release went on to say that Fundora was shocked when testing
positive for Covid, but after she was given a more accurate
24-hour PCR test by the same Lab, the results was NEGATIVE so
the fight was on again.
Fundora was thrilled with the news, after she said that she had
worked so hard to prepare for this fight. She said, "I’m
negative and the fight is back on!”
WBAN would like to congratulate Fundora on her win last night.
They reported it was supposed to be a ten round bout, but the
info on the net shows it was an eight round bout.
