(DEC 18) Last Saturday night, December 11th,  I had the opportunity to attend the live boxing event entitled "Underground Showdown #5, hosted at the Buckhead Fight Club, in Brookhaven, Georgia.  The card featured nine men's boxing bouts.  The event was broadcasted live on WBC Network.

It was a unique opportunity to be  “behind the scenes” at this event that promoted by Terri Moss, retired world champion, and hall of famer with the 2015 International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame.

At the event, I not only got a bird's eye view of what it takes to put on a boxing event----but also had the pleasure of meeting and talking with many that I have only had social media contact with and to meet many of them in person.

When first arriving at the event---as I was going to the seated area,  one of the "firsts" I met up with was Ring Announcer Vince Bailey.

Michael Montero, Correspondent for Ring TV, Actor, and more....

After a brief intermission during the event---I was introduced after going into the ring, and interviewed by Bailey. We talked about how the sport of women's boxing has progressed, and about females now promoting shows, training boxers, etc.   I then spoke briefly with commentator Michael Montero about the sport where the commentators were located ringside.  (In addition to Ring Magazine's Michael Montero, they had another commentator for the night, Money Powell Sr., calling the fights.)

Being behind the scenes with Terri Moss before the event, and during the event,  I have to say seriously "Hats Off" to her.

When I saw what it really took to put on a boxing event, I walked away with a much better understanding of just what a promoter does to do a show. There are so many aspects that have to be planned----so many people that have to be involved and participate to pull a success of a show as I saw this night.

Terri Moss, Promoter, Trainer, Manager, retired world champion, Hall of famer, and the list goes on....

There was supposed to have been one female bout on the card, and unfortunately it fell through,  but I did get to meet one of the female boxers that was supposed to fight---her name is Melody Papravok.  She is fairly new on the scene, and has had two pro fights.

Melody Papravok - she has had about 18 amateur fights and just turned pro in June of 2021.  She is 1-1-0 (her second fight a controversial split decision)  Terri Moss trains and manages Melody.

In closing, I would like to thank Terri Moss, Michael Montero, Cesar Seda, Vince Bailey, the fighters, Moss' staff, and many more that made me feel so welcome to come to Atlanta at this event.  I thoroughly enjoyed myself at this event!
