(NOV 7) Rosilete dos Santos
met with the President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, last Friday
(November 5th), in Castro (Brazil). The president came to Castro
at the invitation of Congresswoman Aline Sleutjes.
Born in Castro and now a resident of São José dos Pinhais, also
in Brazil, Rosilete became in 2008 the first woman born in
Brazil to win a world boxing title, winning the World Boxing
Commission belt. In 2011, she won the WIBA (Women's International
Boxing Association) world title, the largest women's boxing
organization on the planet. Rosilete stopped fighting in
professional boxing in 2013, ending her career with 34 fights,
29 wins and five losses.

On Friday, when Rosilete was introduced to the president during
a dinner for guests, he said: 'I've already seen your fight.'
“Smiling I thanked him and said that I am the first Brazilian
world champion and he asked me in the form of an affirmation
'but you're already retired, aren't you?'” said the champion.
“It was not a political meeting, I am emeritus champion, world
champion, first brazilian women champion and all this is
historic. Thank you very much to my fellow countrywoman Aline
for this moment and I thank you who have always been with me and
know how important this meeting is for me”, said Rosilete.
In 2015, Rosilete and her husband, Macaris do Livramento,
another world boxing champion, started the Boxing Center of
Excellence project in São José dos Pinhais that offers free
boxing classes for children. Macaris also commented on the
meeting with Bolsonaro. “Many times we didn't have the money to
train and walked to the gym. At lunch we shared a cooked dish.
We often think about giving up everything, but our desire to win
didn't allow it”, recalled the former boxer. “Friday, in Castro,
Rosilete's hometown, the meeting with the president of Brazil,
Jair Bolsonaro, when Rosilete met the president, he said: 'I've
already watched your fight and asked, are you retired now? '.
Without political ideology, but without a doubt it was the true
recognition of the President of the Republic of Brazil. Thanks
to Congresswoman Aline Sleutjes for the invitation and for the
opportunity of this meeting”, said Macaris.
