(NOV 2) On Monday night, in
Izegem, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium, there were two female bouts on
the card. In one bout, Delfine Persoon was featured in a
scheduled eight-round bout. Persoon, 128½, fought Beatriz
Aguilar, 133½, defeating Aguilar with a RTD after the fourth
round. Aguilar, the WIBA World lightweight champion failed
to return to the ring in the fifth round.
"Finally an opponent that allows it to box," Persoon said after
the camp. "We had thought that in advance. Mexicans are
honor, sensitive and fighter with heart. They go for it and don't
want to hold each other constantly. They are going to make the
camp, we expected that too."
"And that makes it beautiful: that you have a real fight of both
sides. And one of them then of course gets heavy blows.
Fortunately, that was positive for me." Persoon smiled after her
convincing victory and also hopes for a world title fight again:
"For the European title I am the challenger, but I hope for
another chance for the world title, " added Persoon.
Persoon is now 46-3-0 (19KO), and Aguilar is 7-6-1 (1KO).
In a second female
bout that was on the card, a flyweight competition between Amy
Naert, 109 vs. Rachida Djaziri, 104¼, scheduled for six rounds.
Naert remained undefeated as a professional when she won by a
unanimous decision over Djaziri. Final judges scores were
60-52 on all cards. Naert improved her record to 5-0-0
(1KO), and Djarir is now 1-1-0 (0KO).
