(SEPT 6) On Saturday night
at the Headingley Rugby League Stadium, in Leeds, Yorkshire,
United Kingdom, Katie Taylor, 134¾, of Ireland,
successfully defended her WBC, WBA, IBF, WBO world lightweight
titles against Jennifer Han, 134¼, of El Paso, Texas, USA.
It was reported that they fought
in front of 20,000 boxing fans. Final judges scores were
100-89 on all judges scorecards. Taylor moved her record
to 19-0-0 (6KO), and Han is now 18-4-1.
In a post-fight interview, Taylor
said, "I want the megafights and to be involved in the biggest
fights out there. I'm confident I will end my career as unbeaten
and undisputed world champion."
So what should be next for Taylor?
Hopefully boxing fans will FINALLY get to see her fight Amanda
Serrano.
After the fight, Eddie Hearn made it clear at DAZN that Katie
Taylor will do one more match in December waiting for Amanda
Serrano and her team to decide to fight next year in NY Madison
Square Garden in what would be in combat biggest of women's
boxing in this era.
In a second female bout on the card, bantamweight Ebanie
Bridges, 118, of New South Wales, Australia, won an
eight-rounder by points over Mailys Gangloff, 116,
of Aix-les-Bains, Savoie, France. Bridges moved her record
to 7-1-0 (3KO) and Gangloff is 5-3-0 (2KO).
