(AUG 18) Former WBO World Light-Heavyweight boxing champion gets her first win in her second kickboxing fight against Gina Gee.

The Brazilian born New Zealand citizen Geovana Peres retired from boxing at the beginning of 2021. Once retired she decided to jump ship and started training to become a kickboxer.

In Geovana fight career so far she started off fighting the corporate boxing game, with it all beginning at a charity event to raise money for Canteen. She was undefeated with two wins. She won her one and only amateur boxing fight for the North Island Golden Gloves title in 2016. She made her Pro debut in 2017, where she suffered her first loss in her fight career against Sarah Long.

Geovana went on to win two New Zealand National titles in the Light Heavyweight division from NZNBF and PBCNZ. In 2019 she reach her ultimate goal of winning the World title. In the process of her success, she fought and defeated former 8th ranked boxer Nailini Helu, world title contender Lani Daniels twice and world title contender Claire Hafner.

On April 16th in West Auckland, New Zealand, she took on the former IFMA Junior Gold Medalist and GAMMA World Champion Roezala Su'e in her first Muay Thai fight. The fight itself was close which ended by a split decision win to Roezala. This was the second time in Geovana fight career that she has lost.

This time at the Te Atatu Peninsula Community Centre, Geovana took a well-experienced kickboxer, Gina Gee. Gina fights out of the world-famous UFC gym City Kickboxing, but when she isn’t training there, she owns her own gym called Zoo Boxing Academy. Gina Gee has been fighting for over 8 years with her most notable titles being the North American kickboxing title, Australian Golden Gloves boxing title and many more.

Geovana Peres was a true warrior on the night and inspired everyone who attended the event. Geovana won the fight by Unanimous Decision giving her the first win of her Kickboxing career. If you include her entire fight history, her fight record will be 12 - 2 - 0 with one win by KO.

After the fight, Geovana Peres was awarded the inaugural Fau Vake Warrior's Heart Memorial Shield.
