(JAN 23) The female boxers of today may not know it---but many of them leave a lasting impression on those who will want to follow in their footsteps in boxing.  One such young lady, by the name of  Yaretzy "La Guerita" Ferratt, of Brawley, California, just 11 years is inspired with her number one boxer she looks up to Katie Taylor.  Yaretzy has a dream to one day to meet Taylor.

Yaretzy also has a brother and mentor who boxes as an amateur,  Chino "El Tremendo" Ferratt, who in his own right is an accomplished amateur boxer in the ring.

Boxing runs deep in Yeretzy's family.  Her uncle Guerardo Guero Ferratt, a two-time National Champion from México, who fought Roberto "Manos de Piedra" Duran and more.  Her father, Jesus Ferratt trains Yaretzy and her brother.  Many are boxing trainers in the family.

So besides Katie Taylor, one may ask, what inspired this 11-year-old to get into boxing.

Her father and trainer  Jesus Ferratt told WBAN that Yaretzy first trained in karate for six years, in which she had earned a red belt advanced---almost a black belt.

He went on to tell WBAN that when he was training her brother Chino--- she was going with them to the boxing gym.  He said that he would take her to karate practice everyday, until one day, she said she wanted to learn how to box---but that she didn't want to fight.  So from there,  Yeretzy began training, and then sparring, and then said to him that she just found out that her thing was "boxing" and she quit karate to dedicate 100 percent of her time in boxing.

Jesus said, "so she got a fight and another---she kept fighting at the gym.   She fought an international boxing tournament for girls in Querétaro, Mexico and won. She fought in Mesa, Arizona in the Gene Lewis tournament and won. She also fought in Rosarito, Mexico and won in that tournament.   WBAN put up a Youtube on Yeretzy in one of her fights.

WBAN will keeps tabs on this young boxer and will keep boxing fans updated on her progress throughout the sport!
