(SEPT 25) In today’s news on the Internet, reports are that
Katie Taylor will be fighting Miriam Gutierrez on November 14,
2020. Apparently Gutierrez is the mandatory defence against this
boxer. Both will enter the ring with undefeated records, with
Gutierrez at 13-0 (5KO) and Taylor 16-0-0 (6KO). The bout will
take place on the Matchroom card.
Gutierrez is the mandatory for the WBA Lightweight belt, due to
the fact she holds the interim belt. Hearns said that Taylor has
to fight her WBA mandatory next.
Miriam Gutierrez of Spain last fought on November 29, 2019,
close to a year since having a pro fight. At that time Gutierrez
won the Interim WBA Lightweight title against Keren Batiz.
Gutierrez won that contest by a unanimous decision. Gutierrez
was very active in 2019 when she had five bouts that year.
Katie Taylor’s last fight took place just recently when she had
a rematch with Delfine Persoon, winning again by a unanimous
decision and maintaining her WBC, WBO, WBA, and IBF Lightweight
titles. In 2019, Taylor fought three times.
