(JULY 21) Cecilia Braekhus’ next defense against Jessica McCaskill will have a special stage, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The First Lady will defend her World Boxing Association (WBA) Welterweight belt in the middle of the street on August 15th, according to Matchroom Boxing.

It will be a very interesting boxing card, in which the promotions company has already said that it will close from the 4th to the 6th street of S. Boston Ave to set up the ring on 5th street. The event will have no fans present and will comply with all safety and distance protocols to ensure the participants’ well-being amidst the pandemic.

This is Braekhus’ first fight of the year, and she wants to keep her undefeated record against a McCaskill, who will fight in a higher division on the streets of Tulsa.

In addition to Braekhus vs. McCaskill, there will be another black and gold belt at stake. The WBA-International Super Lightweight Champion, Uzbek Shakhram Giyasov (9-0, 7 KOs), will defend his belt for the second time against Mexico’s Francisco Hernández Rojo (22-3, 15 KOs).

The WBA applauds these types of innovations that allow the sport to get back on its feet and provide new alternatives for the current situation.

The “First Lady” has a perfect record of 36 fights, 9 of them won by KO. McCaskill has a record of 8 wins, 2 losses and 3 KOs.
