(JAN 12) Last night at the
Alamodome, in San Antonio, Texas, in a co-main event there was
an action-packed bout featuring a female bout with Alejandra "La
Tigre" Jimenez vs. Franchon Crews-Dezurn in a ten-round world
title bout with Crews-Dezurn defending her WBC and WBO Super
Middleweight titles. At the scales Jimenez who has dropped
down to fighting as a super middleweight came in at 164.6, and
Crews-Dezurn, 168.
According to reports
on the internet with this bout, the bout wasted little time
getting started, and that Crews-Dezurn had taken the fight to
Jimenez, but that both were aggressively exchanging punches. There was a distraction in the
ninth round when Franchon's weave was starting to come out,
where it had to be stopped to fix the situation.
Jimenez won the
ten-rounder by a split decision with final judges scores of
93-97, 92-98, and 97-93, with Jimenez becoming the new WBC and
WBO Super Middleweight champion. Jimenez remains undefeated with
a 13-0-1 (9KO), and Crews-Dezurn is now 6-2-0 (2KO)
With the scores
being close, with one judge seeing Crews-Dezurn as the
winner---looks like a rematch could possibly be in the making in
the near future.
