(OCT 27) On Saturday night,
at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA,, promoted by King's
Promotions, there was a female bout featuring Karen Dulin vs.
Avril Mathie. The four round bout ended in a unanimous
decision for Mathie----with a final score of 40-36 on all the
judges scorecards.
So many times when a boxer loses
a fight---the first thing out of their mouth is, "I was
robbed!"
In this particular fight----we did not have the "disrespect" or
"poor sportsmanship" that can come out of a loss for a boxer.
After their fight on Saturday night, Dulin self-reflected about
her fight with Mathie and spoke about the outcome in which
she shared with friends on Facebook.
Dulin wrote the following, and included what Mathie had said
to her after the fight:
"Had to pull myself together a few times after this one. A
big congratulations to Avril Mathie who came and did her thing.
I have no excuses. I didn't do what I needed to and
she won decisively."
"In addition Avril Mathie reached out to me this morning to
thank me for a great fight and more importantly to check on
me....wow--thank you again so much for that Avril you're clearly
kind and beautiful both inside and out."
In WBAN's thoughts, this is a classic example of two
female boxers doing their best in the sport and also setting an
example for other female boxers who are getting into the sport.
Pure Class!
