(JAN 14) I enjoy following
your career and would love to give you more visibility here in
USA. We are hoping to see you fight again in the USA and keep
the momentum going here in the Super Middleweight Division.
There is much respect for the amateurs with many fights coming
into the professional ranks because they are willing to fight
the top boxers.
With the tide turning and woman getting their shot on networks
like Showtime, most recently HBO that will no longer feature
boxing and DAZN, we have the opportunity to see the best of the
best fight.
With that being said, you are ranked #5 in the world, just won
the WBA Inter-Continental Female Super Middleweight title. the
it’s a pleasure to interview you and learn more about you.
I know you have an
extensive amateur career. How did you get into boxing? How old
were you when you had your first fight?
Savannah: I first got into boxing when I was 12 years old. I
started through friends who used to box. Went along and loved
it.
A lot of people talk about you and Claressa Shields in the
amateurs. You are the only person who beat her on a world stage
in the amateurs. What does that victory over Shields in the
amateurs do for your career, your confidence if anything?
Savannah: Nothing much really, everyone is talking about the
rematch which is good for me as I’m not a big name like her. I’m
always confident in myself because of how hard I train and I
know what I can do.
Hoping to see you fight in USA one day. Is this a goal of
yours to fight in USA or do you plan on fighting in UK for a
while?
Savannah: I had my pro debut on the Mayweather McGregor
undercard in Las Vegas. What a way to start! But I would love to
come back to America.
We would love to see you fight top prospects here in USA
you might have even faced 1 or 2 of them before in the amateurs.
Do you plan on staying in the Super middle weight division? If
so who are you looking to fight?
Savannah: I want to win a world title at super middle. Then come
down to middle. There isn’t that many girls out there so this
will give me more options in regards to opponents.
A couple of silly questions but fans want to know:
What is your favorite color? My favorite color is
Blue.
Your favorite song? Can’t stop by the Red Hot
Chili Peppers.
What do you like to do besides boxing? I enjoy
walking with my dog and seeing friends.
Do you play any other sports? I quietly enjoy
weight lifting.
How can fans follow you? I can be followed
on Instagram and Twitter : Smarshall1991
When do you fight next? Do you know your opponent?
Savannah: I’m just waiting for a date, hopefully in March.
Thank you Savannah for taking the time to be interviewed!
