Yesica Bopp Wins by TKO in the tenth
Round over Sandra Robles and retains WBA Title

(OCT 16) On Saturday night,
at the Villa Dominico, Estadio José María Gatica, in Buenos
Aires, Argentina, Yesica "Tuti" Bopp, 107¼, of Buenos Aires,
successfully retained her WBA Light flyweight World title, when
she fought and defeated by TKO in the tenth round over Sandra "Perla
Negra" Robles, 106, of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico. Robles
was down in the tenth round before the ref stopped the fight :58
seconds in that round.
This was Bopp's 22th defense of
her WBA light flyweight world title, with Bopp being the
champion since 2009.
The WBA website wrote that Bopp had only one break in 2013 when
she was appointed champion in recess due to her pregnancy. They
said that Bopp returned in 2016 to ratify her championship
status, when she fought Nancy Franco, defeating her in a
ten-round unanimous decision on June 18, 2016 for the WBA light
flyweight belt.
Bopp had fought twice this year, where she last fought on April
6, 2018, when she defended her WBA Title against Soledad del
Valle Frias winning by a TKO in the sixth round, in a ten round
bout.
Robles had two fights in 2018, winning bout bouts against Brenda
Robles by a unanimous decision and Yesenia Castrejon, winning by
a fifth round TKO in an eighth round bout.
Bopp said, "I feel good for what I have achieved and for my
historic record with the World Boxing Association. It makes me
happy being an athlete for ten years and it fills me with joy
knowing that I am earning my status as an athlete. "
