Beautiful Brawlers VIII Show in Brisbane, California at the Ring of Fire Boxing Inc.!
by Sue TL Fox
September 6, 2018

(SEPT 6)  On Saturday, September 1, 2018, at the Ring of Fire Boxing Inc., located in Brisbane, California, an All-Female Boxing Card the Beautiful Brawlers VIII show took place that featured 66 fighters on the card.

Before the event took place, owner and founder of the "Beautiful Brawlers" Blanca Gutierrez had "thanked" Founder Jimmy Ford of the Ring of Fire Boxing Inc., and to all his crew for their support in acceptance into their boxing family and community.

She went on to say that they would bring the "best" Beautiful Brawlers Show "EVER" on Saturday, September 1st at the Ring of the Fire Boxing, Inc. venue.....AND I am here to tell you----AFTER covering the event RINGSIDE----the BEAUTIFUL BRAWLERS VIII delivered!

This event that began at noon and ran several hours, with utilizing two rings at times during the boxing event was entertaining, organized,  flowed smoothly----with exciting  and interesting fights with female boxers from the very young to teens and more.

The beautiful brawlers VIII belts and the medallion/medals were absolutely gorgeous.   Each fighter received either the belt (if they won the bout, and/or the medal who took second place).

What I really thought was a great idea, is that the winner of the bout placed the medal on their opponent, and the winner of the bout won the belt----to me all of these female boxers were "winners" because they represented the sport well, and are learning their craft in the amateurs. These were truly "top of the line" awards for these amateurs! [video of belts above]

These amateur boxers did female boxing proud with their display of  outstanding sportsmanship, the respect for each other, and the graciousness when they either won or lost a bout.

There were 31 bouts on the card, and WBAN has attached the results for all of the bouts that were on this card.  [All Results of bouts on event 30 listed on PDF, and independently adding the International bout: River Tucker, Canada wins U/D over Stephanie Mendoza , Salt Lake City Utah]. Also the [2018 Baby Brawlers Champions]

Lupi Gutierrez Beagle gave her thoughts about the event:  "It’s all about the girls, the female athletes. Let’s talk about these boxers and let people both inside and outside of the boxing community know who these young ladies are inside and outside of the Ring. Let’s raise money to help them fulfill THEIR dreams and goals. It’s all about the girls for us."

Blanca Gutierrez said, "Every year the Beautiful Brawler show gets better because each year the talent pool of female boxers gets better. We do this for the girls and we use this show as a platform to show that Girls box too and it’s in our blood. The boxing community is growing and we continue to be a close knit community of women who box, coach and mentor. We know the sport, and love boxing."

"Next year we have some big goals and we look forward to stepping up our game and having fun, " added Blanca.

Eliza Olson said, "We are lucky to have each other as a team. We are all strong and powerful womyn with the same goal in mind—To bring up young womyn to be strong and powerful leaders in our communities. Boxing teaches discipline resilience and strength. And these young womyn are learning that they can accomplish anything that they set their minds to. One day we will be equal but until then we keep fighting! One fight at a time!"

WBAN's William Taylor said, "Women's boxing has continued to grow. In some ways, to a higher place than just a legitimate sport. This event was more evidence of that statement to be sure."

"There is no person who better exemplifies this than Blanca Gutierrez. It is very obvious that she has invested her heart and soul, blood sweat and tears and a lot of love in these young ladies. A truly priceless asset to the sport," added Taylor.

About the Fire in the Ring Boxing, Inc.

Fire in the Ring Boxing program's mission is to keep bay area youth off the streets. It is a boxing club fueled solely by volunteers dedicated to providing disadvantaged youth in all San Francisco neighborhoods (Excelsior, Mission, Potrero, Visitacion Valley, Sunnydale, Bayview, Hunters Point, Sunset, Richmond, Fillmore, Noe Valley, all surrounding neighborhoods and all surrounding cities and counties) a positive environment where kids can remain active and out of trouble upon getting out of school.

The program has been designed to build confidence, sportsmanship and leadership. The concept is that kids can come to the gym, work out, get a "sense of purpose", compete (if interested), and be safe from the temptations of the street. Our organization of volunteers are individuals that work full time jobs, however, find time to donate their time to help kids in need.
