(JULY 31) On Sunday
afternoon (July 29th) at the KBS Hall, Kyoto, Japan, there was
three female boxing bouts on the card.
In a mainliner, there was a
ten-round WBO Atomweight world championship fight between Nao
Ikeyama, 101, of Kyoto, (Champion) and Mika Iwakawa, 102
(challenger), of Osaka. Iwakawa won by a close split
decision. Final judges scores were 96-94, 94-96, and 94-96.
Iwakawa is now 8-5-1 (3KO), and Ikeyama is 18-4-3 (5KO).
After this title bout, Nao Ikeyama announced her retirement from
boxing.
In an eight round bout, Flyweight Tamao Ozawa, 112, of Nagano,
Japan, won by an unanimous decision over Phannaluk
Kongsang, 110¾, from Thailand. Final judges scores were
80-72 on all three cards.
Lastly, in a four round bout, Atomweight Yuki Kira, of Osaka,
had a majority draw with Aika Shirakata, also from Osaka.
Final judges scores were 39-38 38-38 38-38.
