--Multi-world champion, Cecilia "The First Lady" Braekhus,
(34-0, 9 KO’s), of Oslo, Norway won a ten-round unanimous
decision on Saturday night over WBC Interim Junior Middleweight
Champion Inna ‘The Ice Queen’ Sagaydakovskya, (7-0-1, 3 KO’s) at
the Olympic Stadium in Moscow, Russia. Scores were 98-92, 98-92
and 97-93.
With the renowned Johnathon Banks
in her corner, Braekhus worked behind an excellent jab to land
power shots with both hands at will in a dominating performance
throughout the fight. The victory impressed the fight fans in
Moscow where she was fighting for the first time.
"I'm very happy with my
performance," Braekhus said. "I did what I wanted to do in the
ring and what we worked on in camp. I've been treated very well
here in Moscow, and it was a pleasure fighting here."
Braekhus vs. Sagaydakovskya was
featured on the undercard to the World Boxing Super Series
Cruiserweight Unification Final won by Oleksandr Usyk over Murat
Gassiev.
Braekhus has held all of the
sanctioning body world titles in the welterweight division since
defeating Ivana Habazin in September 2014. On May 5, 2018, she
made history becoming the first female fighter to appear on HBO
in their 45-years of televising boxing. Her 10-round decision
over Kali Reis from the iconic Stubhub Center in Carson, CA
averaged an extraordinary 904,000 viewers in the live telecast
on HBO.
