Lani Daniels vs Nailini Helu to Main Event South Auckland
by Benjamin Watt
June 6, 2018

(JUNE 6)  Lani Daniels will be defending her NZPBA Light Heavyweight title against Nailini Helu on July 14 2018, at Auckland Netball Centre in St John Auckland New Zealand, Mal and Raylyne Siaosi will be promoting another show under their Multi trade boxing brand. This will be the first time they will be a women's professional boxing bout on their card and also first time they making a women's boxing bout their main event.

Lani Daniels will be defending her New Zealand title against former top ten world ranked boxer Nailini Helu. Both boxers were very experienced Amateur boxers before turning pro but now they are aiming to climb the pro ranks.

Daniels who debuted September last year, won her New Zealand title against Trish Vaka in November 2018. She went on to face Geovana Peres March this year, however lost the bout by a very close split decision. Now she is defender her New Zealand title against Nailini Helu to redeem her loss and to climb the ranks. Her aim is to become world champion within next few years.

Nailini Helu debuted on the Kali Reis vs Maricela Cornejo World title undercard back in 2016. Helu climbed the ranks quickly reaching top 10 in the world on boxrec. However after an unfortunate decision change due to a judge scorecard error, it hit Nailini Helu hard mentally and a mass backlash on social media didn't help. After that decision change to a draw she attempted a comeback but lost to Alrie Meleisea by split decision. The two had a rematch in March 2017 but same result with a lose by split decision. Both times were controversial decisions as it was believed that Nailini won both bouts.
