Cindy Serrano Wins by Majority Decision for WBO World Title
December 11, 2016

(DEC 11) Last night at the Coliseo Cosme Beitia, in Cataño, Puerto Rico, Cindy "Checkmate" Serrano fought and won the vacant WBO featherweight World Title, when she defeated Calixsta Silgado by a ten-round majority decision.  Final judges scores were 95-95, 96-94 and 99-91 for Serrano.

Before the fight last night, Team Serrano had told WBAN, "Our original opponent was the rematch with Fatima Zarika who Cindy had a draw with and recently defeated Alicia Ashley."

At the scales a day before the fight, Cindy Serrano weighed in at 124¾, and Silgado, 124¾.

Cindy's sister, Amanda "The Real Deal" Serrano, who is a multi-world champion said after the fight, "History was made tonight! My sister Cindy joins me as a legit world champion, and the new WBO Featherweight World Champion!".

In addition, WBAN believes at this time that they could be the first sisters in history to be world champions, but we are still researching that possibility, and will publish soon more on this topic.
