(OCT 4) Effective
immediately and commencing with the October 2016 data, WBAN will
publish the BoxRec female rankings on a continuing monthly
basis. This will serve to unite the premier boxing rating system
in the sport with the Internet site of record for Women's
boxing. Sue Fox, founder and President of WBAN.com, announced
the move noting that, "BoxRec, which is our sport's go-to source
for accurate and up-to-date ranking information, has generously
allowed us to publish their monthly ratings which will serve to
keep our readers on top of the changes in the rankings of the
top boxers in the sport."
BoxRec was founded by Englishman John Sheppard and has been in
full time operation for over a decade. The rankings are
calculated daily, by computer, in order to dispel subjective
views or opinions and those rankings are further substantiated
by the vast inventory of bout records in the BoxRec data base.
The reputation of the system has grown markedly since it's
inception to the point where it is now "a must read" for all
those seriously involved or interested in the sport of boxing.
New York promoter Lou DiBella has noted, "anyone, in boxing, who
says he doesn't use BoxRec is either a complete imbecile or
lying."
WBAN will include every weight class available on BoxRec,
minimumweight to heavyweight and, where applicable, will list
the top ten fighters in each class. In an instance, where there
are less than a sufficient number of top ranked, active boxers
in a given weight class, an appropriate number of the top
fighters in that division will be ranked. BoxRec will, likewise,
form the rating base for bouts for the prestigious WBAN belt,
which have, in the past, matched the top boxers in a given
weight division. Sponsoring sanctioning bodies, along with the
WBAN Belt Selection board, will also participate in the match up
of contenders for the WBAN belt. Past winners included Holly
Holm, Myriam Lamare, Chevelle Hallback and Anne Sophie Mathis.
For ratings below WBAN
will take the top ten (or LESS in certain weight
classes) at the first week of each month, and we will
carry these ratings until the end of the month. WBAN
reserves right to make a change on a rating when we feel
that it needs to be slightly different from the stock
ratings on BoxRec. For indepth information on all female boxers , go to www.boxrec.com
