Highlights of Worldwide Women's Boxing Action this Weekend
by Sue TL Fox
August 25, 2016

(AUG 25) This weekend WBAN has listed some of the highlights of women's boxing that will take place worldwide.  We would love to be listing much more boxing action but it looks like slim pickin's otherwise.

On Saturday night, August 27, 2016 - Palenque de la Feria, Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico, Mariana Juarez will fight Daniela Bermudez in a ten-round bout.  This will be a great matchup between these two.  This will open up an opportunity for the two to challenge for a world title with the WBC.  Juarez said she is well-prepared because she knows that this will be a war with Bermudez.

Another interesting bout on Saturday, will take place at the  Villaguay, Entre Rios, Argentina, Debora Anahi Dionicius, 22-0-0 (5KO), of Villaguay, will be defending her IBF Super Flyweight world title against Ana Lozano, 12-4-0 (9KO), of Caracas, Venezueila. Dionicius first won the title in 2012, and has defended many times since then.

Other action on Saturday, August 27th:

In Mexico at the
Palenque de la Feria, Gomez Palacio, Durango, Mexico, there is another card that will feature Bantamweight Yazmin Rivas to fight Jessica Gonzalez in a 10-round bout. This will be a rematch for the two when they first fought in November of 2013, with Jessica Gonzalez winning by a close 10-round split decision when they were fighting for the Interim bantamweight WBC title.

At the Club Social y Deportivo El Porvenir, Quilmes, Buenos Aires, Argentina, Carolina Duer, 18-3-1 (5KO), of Buenos Aires, will be fighting Aline Scaranello, 10-4-0 (8KO), of San Paulo, Brazil, in a ten-rounder where the two will be battling for the interim IBF Bantamweight title.

In Zambia, at the Government Complex, in Lusaka, there are three scheduled female bouts on the card. In one bout, Catherine Phiri will be fighting Gabisile Tshabalala, in a ten-round bout for the WBC World bantamweight title; in a welterweight bout, Lolita Muzeya will face Anisha Bashir in a non-title eight-round bout; and in a six round bout, flyweight Barbra banda will fight Mwenne Haji Gembo.

In Huxleys, Kreuzberg, Berlin, Germany, featherweight Nina Meinke, will face Karina Kopinska in a four-round bout.

In some undercard action on the weekend

On Friday,  August 26th,
SugarHouse Casino, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, , super featherweight Laurie Shiavo, making her pro debut, will be fighting Mary Leary, also making her pro debut in a four-round bout.

On Sunday, August 28, 2016, in Manaus, Amazonas, Brazil, light flyweight Elica Santos vs. Jessica Paula Da Silva, six rounds.
