WBF Convention Highlight: To Victory Through Meditation By World Champion Nicole Wesner
Source/WBF Press Release
August 15, 2016

(AUG 15) In a hugely fascinating addition to the upcoming III. World Boxing Federation (WBF) World Convention in Maribor, Slovenia (Sept. 22 – 25), reigning WBF Women’s World Lightweight Champion Nicole Wesner will hold the Boxers Seminar on a topic rarely seen associated with professional boxing: Meditation.

Wesner, a practising Buddhist, is qualified to lecture about how meditation and yoga techniques can help to improve a boxer’s performance in the ring, as she is a living example of the success of this combination.

After moving from Germany to Vienna, Austria in 2006, Wesner had her first encounter with meditation in a traditional yoga studio, before discovering boxing as her sporting passion. She turned professional – being her own manager and promoter – in 2012 and the pieces of her unusual journey fell together shortly afterwards in a most unique fashion.

Having a solid spiritual basis with meditation being complemented by Buddhist teachings, Hatha-yoga and philosophy, Wesner’s boxing career became a thorough success. To date, she has an outstanding 11-0 (5) record and already defended her world title once.

“We are very much looking forward to Nicole sharing her wisdom at our Convention in Maribor,” said WBF President Howard Goldberg. It certainly shapes up to be a seminar not to be missed.
