(APR 21) Undefeated World Boxing
Federation (WBF) Women's International Featherweight Champion
Melanie Zwecker, will attempt to add the WBF Intercontinental
title to her resume when she squares off with Dominican Diana
Garcia on Saturday April 25 at the Pfinzhalle in Dettenheim,
Germany.
Zwecker, currently 6-0 (3) since turning pro in December 2012,
won the WBF International crown in May 2014 with a unanimous
decision over another Dominican, Grecia Nova, and stayed busy
with a first round knockout of Kristina Boras from Croatia in a
non title-bout last December.
Now the 31-year-old from nearby Karlsruhe is ready to take the
next step, and if she is successful in winning the vacant
Intercontinental title she could soon be a legitimate contender
for the Unified Womens World Featherweight title, currently held
by fellow German Elina Tissen.
In Diana “La Evangelica” Garcia she will be facing a very
experienced opponent who has fought some of the best in the
world, and also beat a few of them, and challenged for various
championships since entering the paid ranks in 2001.
Despite a modest 13-20 (4) ledger, Garcia is a tough foe for
anyone, as she proved in her most recent bout when she won the
Dominican Super Featherweight title, by dominating and
eventually stopping the highly favored Marisol Reyes in ten
rounds.
A very intriguing match-up on paper, the Melanie Zwecker vs.
Diana Garcia WBF Intercontinental Featherweight title fight will
be promoted by Michael Siegel.
