Fuentes looks for redemption against current champion Eileen Olszewski for the IFBA World Flyweight title

(JAN 9) The International Female Boxing Association (IFBA) is bringing in 2015 by ringing the bell on a Texas-sized women’s title fight! Christina “Mandy” Fuentes looks for redemption against current champion Eileen Olszewski for the IFBA World Flyweight title. The two square off Friday, January 16 at the Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas.

Fuentes and Olszweski met last September in Brooklyn, NY, in a tough 8round fight that went the distance. Olszweski won in a split decision, which only tells half the story.

Laredo’s Fuentes (3-6-4) was brought into the 2014 fight last minute, having less than two full weeks to prepare. Yet she was able to go toe-to-toe with the champion, something Olszweski (9-5-3) certainly has in the back of her mind as she prepares for this fight. With both fighters having more than two months to prepare, fans will see an entirely different battle.

“Laredo has proven to be an exceptional fight town,” said IFBA President Judy Kulis. “These two fighters have styles that match up well and will put on a show for the fans in attendance. This is one you don’t want to miss.”

Promoted by Triple A Promotions, the IFBA championship bout will be part of a packed Fight Fest 10 card.
