Da Costa Goes For Second WBF World Title November 21st in France

(NOV 16)  Former World Boxing Federation (WBF) Women's World Strawweight Champion Anne Sophie Da Costa from France is moving up in weight and will attempt to claim the vacant WBF World Light Flyweight title on Saturday November 21 in her hometown of Reims.
Da Costa, 19-2 (8), won the Strawweight crown in 2012 and made one successful defense in 2013 before losing the title by split decision to Mexican Susana Cruz Perez in November 2014. Now the 33-year-old is ready to go for glory in a new weight class, taking on Thailand’s Ploynapa Sakrungrueng.

While only 22 years old, Sakrungrueng, 13-6-1 (1), is quite the experienced operator. Since making her professional debut at only 16 in 2010, she fought for a regional strap in only her second bout, and has challenged for world titles three times, but always come up short.

In 2012 she twice attempted to dethrone then WBF Light Flyweight champion Ju Hee Kim in South Korea, losing competitive fights, and now she is traveling again to get another crack against Da Costa. Coming off a win in her most recent outing, she will be full of confidence and determination to make it fourth-time-lucky for her.

On the undercard of the show, promoted by Christian Martin, WBF World Light Heavyweight Champion Tony Averlant returns from injury in a non-title bout. Averlant will fight a tune-up in preparation for a January title-defense against Interim champion Denis Tsaryuk from Russia.
