(SEPT 4) Tomorrow night at the
centre of shows the fairgrounds, in Metepec, Mexico, Zamora
Roca, 23-5-0, (9KO), is set to fight Esmeralda "La Joya"
Moreno, 31-7-1 (10 KO), of Mexico City, where Zamora will be
defending her WBC World Light Flyweight title, in a 10 rounder.
This will be a rematch for these two, when they first fought in
2007 in a non-title six rounder, where Zamora won by a split
decision. In a second previous bout between these two,
they again fought in 2008, where in another closely fought
battle, Moreno won by a majority decision over Zamora with one
judge calling the fight a draw.
Moreno is coming into the fight
with her last fight taking place on August 1, 2015, defeating
her opponent, Jessica Nery Plata, 15-0-0 (2kO) in a 10-round
unanimous decision, delivering Plata her first loss as a
professional boxer.
Zamora, last fought on May 23, 2015, defeating Jolene Blackshear
RTD/7 for the title.
Zamora said, "this will be the third time we face each other. On
the first occasion we won the bout, then in a second bout,
Moreno defeated me. For this our battle has a special touch
against her because I had my first defeat as a professional
boxer and that is what I remember."
