(JULY 23) WBAN has been
informed that multi-world champions Alejandra
"La Locomotora" Oliveras of Argentina and Chevelle
"Fists of Steel" Hallback have expressed an interest in
competing against each other.
With a record of 32-3-2, and a 10 year professional boxing
career in which she captured the WBC World Super
Bantamweight, WBO World Female Featherweight, WBA World Female
Lightweight, and the WBC Super Lightweight titles, "La
Locomotora" seeks to once again become a world champion.
On the other hand, with an 18 year professional career and a
record of 30-8-2, Chevelle Hallback captured the WIBF World Featherweight, the IFBA World Super Featherweight,
the WIBA Super Featherweight, the IFBA World
Lightweight, and the WBF Welterweight titles and the WBAN super
featherweight independent title.
Having only one fight in 2014, in which "La Locomotora" lost her
WBC World Super Lightweight crown to one of female boxing's pound-for-pound best fighters' Erica "La Pantera"
Farias, and a recent six-round win over Natalia Vanessa Del Valle
(7-5-3), "La Locomotora" says she wants to turn the
heat up by
fighting Chevelle Hallback. Oliveras said, "a fight with a
legend like myself
in the sport would be interesting."
Women's Boxing in the U.S.
doesn't have the support that countries like Mexico, Argentina
and Germany has at this time. For Hallback, the past 5 years has
been a time in which she's contemplated retiring altogether from
the sport.
Chevelle said, "a fight against Oliveras would be great for
the sport and it will give me the chance to get closer to
becoming a WBC Female World Boxing Champion, in two weight
classes."
Seems like for both Alejandra and Chevelle that a bout such as
this would make or break either fighter's careers. Each has
their trajectories in the sport and WBAN looks forward to
watching this bout if it ever happens.
WBAN will continue to follow this story and will provide any
information which is sent to us.
