(NOV 10)  On Saturday, November 8th in front of a sold out crowd at the Longshoreman Hall in San Francisco, California,  Martha Salazar and Tanzee Daniel fought for the WBC Heavyweight World title. This would be the first time in two years that a WBC title would be fought for by female boxers in the USA and these ladies did not disappoint.

As the boxers walked into the bout, Daniel walked in wearing all black and looked confident and strong knowing that this fight was for the WBC world title. Daniel weighed in at 252 lbs. and was ready to go.

As the lights were shining down on them, Martha Salazar in all white was walked in by family. Ari Borrero her niece singing a rap song made especially for Salazar, the crowd was loud and excited for this bout. Salazar’s daughter Anikko and Beautiful Brawler boxer Sandra Magallon carried in her belts and all the kids in her family followed her to the ring as she set out to make history and wanted to make sure all the children were involved.

The boxers met in the middle of the ring. The lights were bright, the room had a smoky look and the crowd was that of an old movie. The boxers touched gloves and the fight was on. At the opening bell, both boxers worked to figure each and other out. It was a jab round and both veteran boxers would stick and move. As the second rounded started the fight became a non- stop action packed bout. Round after round showed both boxers throwing punches but Salazar was dominating with combinations that were landing. Salazar would pin Daniel to the ring ropes and start working the body. Daniel would counter with uppercuts but were missing as Salazar kept the pressure on with quick right hands and hooks to the head. Daniel was tough each round testing Martha and yelling out to her in the ring.

On the fifth round Daniel came out with a quick hard jab that landed. Salazar answered back and delivered more punishment against the ropes. As the 7th, 8th and 9th round progressed , neither boxer showed signs of fatigue and kept the same pace. It was the 10th round that Daniel looked for the knock out. Salazar was ready for the attack and both ended the bout as they started a non- stop punch fest.

At the end of the bout Salazar was declared the victor over Daniel. The score cards were 100-90/ 100-90/ 100-90 and Salazar won the WBC heavy weight title. Sam Macias the WBC representative presented the green belt to Martha Salazar and the ring announcer handed her the microphone. Salazar thanked her training camp and coaches, friends, family and sponsors then she called Daniel over and lifted her hand up in the air and said she was a tough fighter and a great boxer. Daniel and Salazar represented female boxing with skill, class and extremely beautiful sportsmanship. It was a night to remember for female boxing in the Bay Area. History was made with the first ever WBC female title fight ever in San Francisco.
