(SEPT 24) DOG Event & Boxing
Company returns to the Saarlandhalle in Saarbruecken, Germany on
Saturday October 11 with World Boxing Federation (WBF)
championship boxing, as Womens World Flyweight Champion Raja
Amasheh and World Super Middleweight Champion Bernard Donfack
defend their titles.
On “Night Of The Champions III”, Amasheh will make her first
defense against talented Amira Hamzaoui from France, while
Donfack puts his title on the line for the first time in a
rematch against Christian Pawlak, a match-up with massive local
intrigue.
Amasheh, undefeated at 17-0-1 (4), won the WBF World Flyweight
crown last May when she moved down a division to defeat Mexican
Susana Cruz Perez by unanimous decision. Before that she held
the WBF World Super Flyweight title, which she relinquished to
campaign at the lower weight.
32-year-old Amira Hamzaoui brings a 10-1 (5) record, having
turned professional in 2011. The opportunity against Amasheh
will be her first shot at a world championship, but while the
defending champion has boxed at a higher level, the challenger
carries enough power in both hands to be a genuine threat.
Bernard Donfack also won his WBF World title this past May, on
the second installment of the “Night Of The Champions” series,
when he knocked out tough Argentinean Javier Alberto Mamani in
the tenth round, also at the Saarlandhalle.
With a very deceiving 20-11-3 (11) ledger, the Cameroon-born
champion will be looking to extend his most recent
winning-streak to five on the spin after starting his career by
going 6-7-3 in his first sixteen bouts. He has since developed
into a top-class operator, and will be favored to successfully
defend his championship on October 11.
But in former German Champion Christian Pawlak, 20-5-1 (11), he
knows he will be facing a tough competitor, and someone who is
hungry to even the score after unexpectedly losing a split
decision, and his unbeaten record, to Donfack in 2007.
Pawlak feels he was hard done by seven years ago, when both were
new to the pro game, and he sees this as his big opportunity to
not only win a world title, but also get his long-awaited
revenge. And when you add that both are fighting out of Germany,
its almost a certainty that it will be a hard-fought battle with
plenty of pride on the line.
