Press Release: Farida El Hadrati to fight for WBF Title
Source: WBF
May 13, 2014

(MAY 13) Current French national Light Welterweight Champion Farida El Hadrati, 4-0 (3), is set to take her career to the next level when she fights for the vacant World Boxing Federation (WBF) Womens International title on Sunday May 18 in her hometown Clermont-Ferrand.

Her opponent will be 21-year-old former European title-challenger Kremena Petkova, 10-10-1 (1), from Bulgaria, who very recently (on April 26) fought well in a losing effort against Ewa Brodnicka (L10) in Poland for the WBF Intercontinental crown.

Farida El Hadrati (32) turned professional in December 2012 after a very accomplished amateur career that saw her win two French national championships, two European Union championships and silver at the 2009 European championships.

In her pro debut she stopped experienced Hungarian Zsofia Bedo in three rounds, getting off to an excellent start, but she only saw action twice in 2013 decisioning Serbian Suzana Radovanovic in January, and stopping Klaudia Szymczak from Poland in three last May.

In only her fourth pro bout, this past March, she impressively stopped Cindy Bonhiver in two rounds to lift the vacant French title, and now she is ready to keep the momentum going by vying for the WBF International title seven weeks later.

While El Hadrati has by far the better amateur credentials of the two, Kremena Petkova is much more experienced in the paid ranks and have fought much stiffer opposition. It is an often-used cliché, but never the less true that she is traveling to France unimpressed with the task at hand.

Besides losing on points to Nicole Boss for the European title last year, and Brodnicka for the WBF Intercontinental a few weeks ago, she has also fought notables such as Klara Svensson, Ornella Domini and current WBF World Lightweight Champion Delfine Persoon.

The El Hadrati vs. Petkova WBF Womens International Light Welterweight title fight on May 18 in Clermont-Ferrand, France, is promoted by ASM Boxe.
