(MAR 30) On Friday night, March
28th, at the Anfiteatro Municipal, Villa Maria, Cordoba,
Argentina, Yesica " El Bombón Asesino" Marcos, 128¼, won a
closely fought six rounder by a unanimous decision over Silvia
"La Leona" Zacarias, 127¾. Both boxers fight out of Argentina.
The six round bout was televised on TyC Sports.
This was the first fight for
Marcos this year in 2014, whereas she fought in 2013 twice
having a draw against Marcela Acuna, and defeating Angela
Marciales, in a 10-rounder for the WBA super bantamweight title,
although in the fight on Saturday was in the super featherweight
division.
As with Marcos, this was the
first fight of the year for Zacarias, and she also had two
fights in 2013, losing by a split decision against Maria Lopez
in a four-round bout in December, and being stopped by TKO
against Noni Tenge in June of 2013 in South Africa.
In round one, Marcos immediately
came out and was cutting off the ring constantly, being the
aggressor with Zacarias throwing some nice counter-punching,
although very was landing. In round two, Marcos continues to be
the aggressive moving forward boxer, where as Zacarias remains
more into laterally moving but is pushed near the ropes many
times throughout the round. At about the 42 seconds left of this
round, Marcos gets in a couple of hard-hitting rights but then
Zacarias throws her own arsenal toward the end of the round,
landing a hard right.
In round 3, the fight continues to be competitive with Zacarias
becoming more offensive at times in the center ring, but Marcos
remains to go forward most of the time, stalking Zacarias around
the ring.
In round 4, thus far, no damage to each other, and no
knockdowns. Both boxers move with precision and it is obvious
that both came to fight and are in superior condition.
In round 5, they begin in the center of the ring, but it doesn't
take Marcos long to follow Zacarias around the ring continuing
to be the more aggressive fighter.
In the sixth and last round, there were some great exchanges
between these two, and the fight remained action-packed
throughout all of the rounds.
