(AUGUST 7)
As part of the World Boxing Federation World Convention
scheduled for September 5 – 8, 2013 in Saarbruecken, Germany,
DOG Event Boxing will stage a huge championship boxing event on
Saturday September 7 at the traditional Saarlandhalle featuring
no less than four WBF title fights.
“We are very proud to be able to present this wonderful show as
part of our convention”, said WBF President Howard Goldberg from
his office in Cape Town, South Africa. “It will be four
competitive bouts for WBF titles, and I am sure everyone will
enjoy the action.”
Main event will be local favourite Juergen Doberstein, from
nearby St. Ingbert only 15 minutes drive from the venue,
defending his WBF Intercontinental Super Middleweight title
against former World Champion William Gare from South Africa.
Doberstein, 14-1 (4), won the vacant WBF title in his latest
outing when he defeated Spaniard Blas Miguel Martinez by
unanimous decision at the same arena in March, and he will be
looking to make a spectacular performance against the hugely
experienced Gare, 27-16 (5), while taking another step towards a
shot at the WBF World championship.
Germanys newly crowned WBF Womens World Light Welterweight
Champion Rola El Halabi will make a quick return to the ring
after winning the title on August 3 with a unanimous decision
over tough Hungarian Dalia Vasarheliy.
The massively popular El Halabi, known for her amazing comeback
in boxing after being shot in hands, knees and feet by her
estranged stepfather in 2011, will make her first defence
against an opponent to be confirmed.
In the evening’s third WBF championship contest, Raja Amasheh
from Karlsruhe will square off with Austria’s Eva “Golden Baby”
Voraberger for the vacant WBF Womens World Super Flyweight
title.
