(JUNE 11) WBAN has received news earlier today that a decision
by the California Commission has been made on the "motion to
appeal" that was made in regards to the April 13, 2013 fight
between the six-rounder between Martha Salazar and Sonya
Lamonakis.
Blanca Gutierrez told WBAN, "As soon as Lamonakis got home after
that fight on April 13th, she called the NYC Athletic Commission
to put an appeal in motion to have the decision overturned. The
state [California] would have a hearing on the matter on June
10, 2013."
" Today I called Karen Chappelle, supervising Deputy Attorney
General, Los Angeles California who told us that they would NOT
take away the win from the 43 year old Salazar. Instead they
would rule the fight a technical win, meaning that there was
some controversy concerning the bout but Salazar keeps the win,"
added Gutierrez.
