(MAR 27) This week WBAN had the pleasure of
meeting up with Elena "Baby Doll" Reid, a flyweight from Las
Vegas, Nevada, who fought from 2000 to 2010. Elena had over
30 fights as a pro boxer. Elena's interest in the
sport began from an early age and she started boxing at age 15. She did not compete as an amateur boxer, but began
her career in combat sports in karate and kickboxing and won an
Arizona state kickboxing title at age 17.
Elena told WBAN this week, "In the last couple years since my
last fight a lot of life has happened. I have turned my passion
for fitness and boxing into a career. I've started my own
business, Reid Family Fitness."
"I train people of all ages and all walks of life in boxing and
strength and conditioning. I hold children's and woman's fitness
and boxing classes."
"I was married in October of 2011
to my wonderful husband and fellow fighter Ray Steinbeiss. We
had our first son in September of 2012. Being a mother is the
most fulfilling job I've ever had. I've always been a happy and
thankful person. The love and gratitude I have for my family is
more than could ever be expressed by words."
"I would love to open up a non
profit boxing gym and further my childrens program in the next
10 years. Boxing gave me the confidence to live a full life and
raised my passion to help others."
"I hope through my career I
opened up people's eyes to what Women's boxing should and can
achieve. My husband and I remain loyal fans to the sport. I
closely follow my good friend Paul Malignaggi. It would be a
dream to commentate or be more involved in the sport one day."
WBAN would like to thank Elena for the great update!
