(MAR 3) Entering the ring with
multicolored attire and hair, Shelly “Shelito’s Way” Vincent,
124, (8-0, 0 KOs) Providence, RI, resembled not only a world
class fighter, but a super hero about to protect the paying
audience at the MGM Grand from a super villain lurking at
ringside. The tall and lean Mikayla “MK Ultra” Nebel, 122, (0-4,
0 KOs), Columbus, OH, resembled nothing comparable to Lex Luthor
or The Joker, but the almost 2,000 supporters selected her as
the heel for the match-up.
Nebel employed a long-range
strategy attempting to time the swarming attacks of Vincent and
punch in between them, discovered it difficult to lay a glove on
her nimble adversary.
Vincent, a professional for only
16 months, unlike most swarmers, has an excellent bobbing and
weaving defensive technique and kept her head outside Nebel’s
shoulders or on her chest smothering the lanky fighter’s
counters while landing in combination to the body and head.
Each round was a carbon copy of the former with Vincent
smothering Nebel, moving her into counter-punches displaying
ring general ship beyond her experience level.
In the end, all three judges agreed to score (40-36) in favor of
Vincent. This author also scored for Vincent (40-36). Nebel
absorbed her fourth loss in as many outings, exhibited skills
superior to her record.
This author obtained the following quotation from Shelly
Vincent:
- My mind was not all there due to my closest friend and
teammate’s mother passing. As I walked into the arena, I wish I
could have showcased my skills more... I want to thank Mikayla
for taking fight she is tough... I'm glad I got another
dominating win ... I just wished it was more "Shelito’s way""
... I wasn't a 100% last night...
