Nelson vs. Perozzi Ends in a Second Draw!
February 3, 2013

(FEB 3) Last night at the Cedarbridge Academy Gymnasium, in Pembroke, Bermuda, in a rematch for the two,  Teresa Perozzi, 158.5,  and Tori Nelson, 158.5 had yet another draw [split this time around] after fighting 10-rounds of action in front of over 2,000 boxing fans.  The two were again fighting for the WBC World Middleweight Title---the belt remains vacant.

The Judges' Scores: Jack Woodburn (Canada) 97-44 Nelson; William Boodhoo (Canada) 96-95 Perozzi; and Julie Lederman (USA) 95-95 Draw.

In the first two rounds, the fight was uneventful, but the fight exploded in Round three when Nelson floored Perozzi with a vicious right to the chin.  Perozzi beat the count and immediately floored Nelson with a ferocious left hook. From then on it was a thrilling fight with both girls taking and giving heavy punishment. However, there were no further knockdowns.  Steve Smoger was the Referee.

The two had fought previously on October 13, 2012, in Southhampton, Bermuda, where they were fighting for the vacant WBC Middleweight belt and the WBA Middleweight belt.  In that fight, it ended in a 10-round majority draw.

At the weigh-in yesterday, supervisors conducting the weigh-in were Bismarck Morales of the WBC and Victor Richmond of the Bermuda Boxing Commission.
