November 8, 2012, In Cockeysville, Maryland, Tyrieshia “Baby
Girl” Douglas defeated Ottawa, Canada’s Rosie Thomas by a four
round unanimous decision. The judge’s scores were 40-36 x 3.
With the win Douglas improves to 2-0, 1KO while Thomas is now
2-1.
This is an impressive victory for Douglas because Thomas’s two
wins have been over the highly decorated former Canadian amateur
champion and current pro Nathalie Forget of Montreal.
Next up on Saturday December 1, 2012, Natalie Brown (5-2, 3KO’s)
is to fight on the United Promotions card at the Hershey Centre
in Mississauga, Ontario; however, an opponent has yet to be
named for her Welterweight contest.
Friday December 7th, 2012, at the Fraserview Centre in
Vancouver, British Columbia, Sarah Pucek (4-2-1, 1KO) will be
taking on Montreal’s Lucia Larcinese (5-9)in a ten round match
up for the vacant Canadian Women’s Featherweight championship.
Pucek has lost her last two matches and has not boxed in eight
months while Larcinese won her last fight in May.
On Thursday April 4, 2013, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, in
Calgary, Alberta, Michelle Nelson (3-3) of Saskatoon,
Saskatchewan will take on Salmon Arm, British Columbia’s Peggy
Maerz (2-2-1) in a scheduled ten round bout for the CPBC
Canadian Women’s Bantamweight championship. This will be the
third match between the two both women have scored a victory
over the other.
In their first encounter in April of 2010, Maerz won a four
round split decision by scores of 39-37 x 2 for Maerz & 39-37
for Nelson. However, in April of 2012, Nelson scored a six round
majority decision win over Maerz by scores of 60-54, 58-56 &
57-57. It should be noted that all three fights have taken place
at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Calgary.
