(NOV 6) As most who follow
WBAN know, we enjoy keeping up with what the female boxers are
doing not only in the ring, but outside the ring.
We would like to congratulate Kelsey Jeffries, a multi-world
boxing champion and role model in the sport for a recent
accomplishment "outside of the ring" that she has achieved.
Many of you may not know this,
but for the last five years plus, Kelsey has had her nose
literally "buried" in a book, and she has attended college
without a break for that entire time.
And with that hard work in school, Kelsey has earned her degree
in Registered Nursing and upon taking and passing the Board
Exam, she was issued her license as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Kelsey is currently working in the Emergency Department of a
local hospital part time, while she continues her education. She
is pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree In Nursing (BSN).
But---not only is she busy with school and work, she still
trains, and wants to fight every day!
WBAN asked Kelsey if there was anything she would like to say to
the women in boxing.
Kelsey said, " I want to convey, that my dream from day one was
to be a champion, and still Is. I love to fight and that Is the
only way I knew how to communicate and deal with life. Even If
the boxing world was as good to the ladies as it is to the men,
it is not forever and there is so much more to the human than
just their athletic abilities and the courage and discipline to
get into the ring as a competitor or a champion. Education will
keep your mind sharp and open areas in your life that you never
thought were possible, or even knew they were there. No matter
where you are in life you can do whatever you want. The same
discipline that made you a fighter can make you achieve any goal
you want. Never let anyone tell you otherwise because they will.
The better you get the more people there are to knock you back
down. It Is the same in boxing. You just got to keep getting
back up and fighting, fighting for your dream and what you
believe. "
