(OCT 13) Tonight at the
Palacio de Deporte, in Mexico City, Distrito Federal, Mexico,
and webcasted on the WBC website, Mariana "Barbie" Juarez, 112,
35-5-3 (16KO), of Mexico City, Mexico, and current WBC flyweight
world champion will be fighting for the vacant DIAMOND WBC
Flyweight world title against Ava "Lady of Boxing" Knight, 9-1-3
(5KO), Chico, California, USA, current IBF Flyweight world
champion. The two will be fighting 10 rounds.
WEIGH-IN - OCTOBER 12
At the scales, both Knight and
Juarez had no problem making weight with Knight coming in at a
trim 111 lbs., and Juarez, 112. While the two were up on stage
at the scales, after weighing in, they happily posed with each
other, and there were obviously no glares, or trash talk between
the two.
Both Knight and Juarez looked to be in superb condition, and
this will in all probability be one of the best matches for
2012, with plenty of action in this high-profile world title
fight.
WBAN was told that Knight is predicting that she can finish the
bout with Juarez before the fifth round. Juarez on the other
hand feels that the Mexico City's altitude will take a toll on
Knight, and she feels that she will also get an early KO.
This particular title for Knight and Juarez, who will be
fighting for the WBC Diamond Flyweight title, will be the
second-ever female bout to fight for such a belt. The first time
that females fought for this belt was when Ana Maria Torres
fought Jackie Nava.

Light welterweight title; and two other men's undercard bouts.
