(SEPT 27) In an exciting
battle that kept the fans at the edge of their seats, Irma "Güerita"
Sanchez from Guadalajara, Mexico, kept her title by unanimous
decision after imposing her will on Carina "Reina" Moreno, at
Cortazar, Guanajuato, in a promotion brought by HG Boxing, Del
Pueblo Promotions and Baja Boxing.
Irma was recognized by most of
the people at Cortazar, they cheered her on from the start of
the fight and Sanchez did not dissapoint using those cheers as
fuel to continue being aggresive and being recognized as the
winner by the 3 ringside judges (96-94, 97-93, 97-93), and that
was her fifth defense of the WBF female world flyweight title.
As usual, Sanchez went forward
from the start of the fight, looking to do some damage to her
difficult opponent, since the beggining she knew it wasn't going
to be easy, as Carina Moreno is a very experienced fighter that
has tasted the greatness of being a world champion when she had
the WBC minimumweight title.
The fight did not disappoint at
any time, Irma basing her boxing on guts and looking to connect
combinations of punches to her opponent's head, and that opened
the path to victory, as she continued with this rhythm until the
end of the fight.
Obviously Moreno always responded and never gave up, but in the
end it wasn't enough to take the title home as the judges gave
the slight edge to Sanchez.
