The Return of Melinda Cooper
August 28, 2012

(AUG 28) In a featured bout scheduled for September 8th at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, Melinda Cooper (21-2) will be back in action and facing undefeated fighter, Celina Salazar of San Antonio, Texas. The bantamweight match-up will be showcased on the Hard Rock's venue, The Joint. Headlining the Golden Boy-promoted show will be IBF Welterweight Champion, Randall Bailey putting his newly won title on the line against Devon Alexander and Lucas Matthysse taking on Ajose Olusegun for the interim Light Welterweight title.

Cooper is anxiously looking towards a bantamweight world title, but understands that first she'll have to get by the tough the Texas-native. "More than anything, I'm just eager to fight again and win a world title," Cooper says, "but first things first, right?" Salazar is she's stepping-up in competition, but is undoubtedly willing and determined to make her mark in the city of neon...a concept obviously not lost on Cooper.

With it's intimate 4,000 seat capacity venue, the The Joint is looking to establish itself as a new hotbed for premiere boxing in Las Vegas.
