(JULY 10) Last night at the
Korakuen Hall, in Tokyo, Japan,
WBA super-flyweight champion Tsunami Tenkai was defending her
title against hard-hitting OPBF champion Naoko Yamaguchi, 114½.
Tenkai boxed very skillfully to
hold off the hard-charging of Yamaguchi, and it appeared that
she succeeded, but when the results were read, Yamaguchi was
declared the winner.
Tsunami Tenkai lost
her title on a controversial10-round unanimous decision.
Final judges scores were 97-93, 97-93, 97-94.
