What was THAT stoppage all about?

(JAN 8) Just when you think you have seen it all, again boxing pulls out another surprise.

In last night's 10-round title fight at the Palacio de los Deportes, Heredia, in Costa Rica between Hanna Gabriel and Dakota Stone the fight was stopped in the eighth round by TKO.  Gabriel was literally handed a gift in the process, and it will go down in the record book that she successfully defended her light middleweight WBO title.

WBAN is almost sure that Stone, of the United States,  feels blind-sided by what happened, I know that we are, and boxing fans around the world who saw it and stated their disbelief.

In the WBO title bout between Hanna Gabriel and Stone, the referee, Gino Rodriguez apparently decided on his own accord to simply "stop the fight" in the eight round. No rhythm, no reason....

Commentator Al Bernstein said after the stoppage, "The most bizarre stoppage I've seen."

"What on earth was Gino Rodriguez thinking, I have no clue at all," added Bernstein.

In another women's bout on the card, Carolina Arias, 119, won her pro debut by TKO in the first round over Abigail Ramos, 118. The fight was scheduled for four rounds.
