(OCT 23) I came early to
secure myself a nice spot with a perfect view on the ring. In no
time the place was sold out because the Beb van Claveren
memorial took place right before the opening of the finals, this
allowed a hundred of old-time boxing fans to fill the arena.
Full of excitement, I was waiting for one of my favorite
fights of the evening and for a dream coming true to see:
Women’s Boxing on a high quality and competitive level performed
by all ages and races and backgrounds.
I felt like a mother watching her children.
My expectations of Katie Taylor Ireland vs. Sofia Ochigava
Russia, was very high, since I considered them both pound for
pound the best fighters of the tournament, however, Sofia was a
bit disappointing in this final bout.
Katie totally controlled the
fights with her faints and her bouncing powerful focused
movements, so Sofia wasn’t able to get any momentum, for her
powerful counterpunches.
Like a deer in the headlights Sofia was 'checkmated" by
Katie’s mastery!
Pound for pound fighter of Europe (maybe even the world) Katie
Taylor.
