European Championship Boxing
by Lucia Rijker
October 18, 2011

(FEB ) In Rotterdam, Holland, yesterday, I witnessed an outstanding level of female Boxing competition! The RijkerStriker Style Price of Gold Silver and Bronze goes to:

Gold:
Sofya Ochigava Russia, 60 Kilos:

She fought with both hands down, great balance, great feeling for distance, typical Russian style of fast in and out footwork (closing the distance) with lots of faints and great power and explosion in her hand. I was captured by her exceptional grace in her movement and the sound of her punches.

Silver:
Katie Tayler Ireland 60 Kilos (the most feared fighter in 60 Kilos weight division of the tournament)
Super fast against her slower opponent, Julia Irmen from Germany, Kattie had great mastery of self, and the ring plus explosion in her 3, 4 punch combinations with great eyes, moved on the balls of her feet with explosive, nonstop faints, she showed lots of experience. Moves like a pro! A Shining star to watch out for in the future!

Bronze:
A shared 3D place between Lauren Price from Wales 69 kilos & Oleksandra Syndorenko Ukrian. 60 kilos.

Other great fights that I was able to see:
Marielle Hansen from Norway vs Ancsin Katalin from Hungary hight speed competative fight in 51 Kilos

Marichelda de Jong NL 69 kilos vs Elena Vystropova AZE
Marichelda outsmart her opponent by lateral movement and patiently waiting to draw out this counter puncher, so she could firing her fast straight combination against her taller oponenet. It was 7-7 until the 4th round where Marichelda dominated with angles and firing and scoring more points in this final round.

Great Top sport Hall in Rotterdam very well organized.

To be continued Friday the half Finals and Saturday the finals.

Lucia Rijker
