August 27, 2011

(AUG 27) WBAN has received an ‘Exclusive’ report that on September 9, 2011, at Club Estudiantes, in the City of Santa Rosa, La Pampa, Argentina, Australian Erin McGowan, 14-0 with 7 KO’s, current WBO Lightweight Champion, will compete against Argentinian Monica “La Gata” Acosta, 14-0-2 with 2 KO’s, current WBA Super Lightweight Champion and WBC Light Welterweight Champion, respectively, for the WBA Super Lightweight Title, a 10x2 match.

The Event is being hosted by ARANO BOX, who is known for promoting multiple female bouts on one fight card, and  is one of huge magnitude in the sport of women boxing.

WBAN was informed that Erin McGowan is prepared to enter into the CORE of the Lightweight and Super Lightweight Divisions and compete against the best in these divisions. McGowan will arrive in Tampa, Florida on Monday August 29, 2011, to continue training under the tutelage of Angelo Dundee for, her upcoming bout.

Both McGowan and Acosta have been in training for the past several months; McGowan was set to defend her WBO Lightweight Title against Amy Johnson but bout was cancelled due to Johnson being injured during training. Acosta has also been in training as she was set for a rematch and defense of her WBA and WBC titles against Alejandra Oliveras, who fought a brilliant 10 round bout against Acosta in their previous meeting.
