(JULY 28) Lately we have had a
lot of "Buzz" going on in the sport about the questionable title
bouts that have been taking place in the sport. "IF" WBAN was a
fly on the wall, we can only imagine the "negotiating stage" of
some of these title bouts as boxing teams negotiate some of
these great and glorious women's boxing titles fights that we
are seeing in the sport lately. (written in humor)
The fly is buzzing ---let the negotiations begin!
Oh...don't worry about the amount of rounds you will need to
fight----we can reduce them if necessary....whatever the
promoter wants, okay? In fact, we have some federations out
there that will let you win a title in a 12-minute fight! That's
right---six rounders for a title belt!
Oh...you are a pro debuter? No problem.....we will just talk up
what a great amateur you were in the sport. Believe me, you do
not have to bother or worry about rankings. Some of the
FEDERATIONS out there don't go by their rankings anyway. Think
"Sanctioning Fees" okay---that is what will get you that title
fight, no worries, alright?....
You are overweight? We can fix that! We can arrange an inactive,
overweight, even a retired boxer if necessary for your opponent.
We have a lot of women who have not fought in over two years
that would take the money to fight you. Oh, you are worried that
the inactive boxer has a winning record? Oh...we won't get an
inactive boxer with a winning record, are you crazy? We have so
many women boxers out there that have lost fight after fight,
and will take a title fight!
Oh, and if this fight is made, think about this! We can publish
in every press release about your boxer that everyone is afraid
to fight them. We can say that your fighter is the best pound
for pound boxer, and that they hold our title----what else could
you ask for----ah...other than a decent purse?
And lastly----Who in the world cares about what WBAN says about
your fight----time will pass and then everyone will eventually
just see your glorious record of fighting bums, and winning
worthless titles, and you will be considered one of the greatest
in the sport! What else could you ask for?
Oh...If ONLY WBAN could be a
Fly on the wall and hear what is said, when these women fighting
for titles are negotiating these deals!
