Park Wins an IFBA Title
Source/Boxrec &
IFBA ratings
July 18, 2011

(JULY 18) On July 16th, at the Jecheon Gymnasium, in Jecheon, South Korea, Ji-Hyun Park, 101¾, won a 10-round unanimous decision over Sun Qun Yan, 101¾, of China.  The two were fighting for the  IFBA minimumweight title. Final judges scores were 92-98, 91-100, and 91-99.

Yan is listed as a pro debuter and there is a note on that record that she is  5-2 -atomweight out of China.  There is no information on any of those fights.

WBAN has no listing for a boxer under the name of Sun Qun Yan and we have her listed as a pro debuter with not previous fight information.

We checked out the IFBA ratings and found no fighter by the name of Sun Qun Yan listed.

We have emailed the IFBA and asked about Yan's boxing record. The fact that she went 10 rounds, she may have a record but no one has it documented perhaps?

Regardless, Yan does not appear to be ranked with the IFBA.

So then it becomes as to "why" would Yan fight for a title in boxing for this organization. Again, I will say this again---what is the point of ratings, if they are not utilized when making title bouts.
