(JULY 6) The IFBA is pleased to sanction two fights in South Korea in July and has sent over a special ambassador to oversee the matches. On Saturday, July 9, South Korean fighter Dan-Bi Kim (7-2) puts her IFBA Mini Flyweight title on the line against China’s Liu Jian Li (5-0) in Li’s first fight outside of China. The 10-round championship bout will take place in Ansung, South Korea.

Then one week later, on Saturday, July 16, the IFBA presents another championship match from South Korea. The city of Jaechun serves as host for an IFBA Strawweight title match. Current champion Ji-Hyun Park (13-5) defends her title against China’s Sun Qun Yan (5-2). Park, who hails from South Korea, will be looking for her seventh straight victory.

As part of the promotion of the back-to-back title fights, the IFBA is sending former IFBA champion Kim Messer to South Korea to serve as a special fight supervisor. Messer is one of the most famous names in women’s boxing and has special ties to the Asian boxing community. Born in Jaechun, Messer was raised in a Korean orphanage before being adopted by an American family. The fight on July 16 serves as Messer’s de facto homecoming.
